Our story

Q’Macizo is a family-owned business. Our brand carries forward a cherished family tradition. This tradition is inspired by the ancient Mayan culture. Archaeological evidence shows that the Mayan and other Mesoamerican cultures were among the first to cultivate peppers and prepare early pepper-based sauces.For generations, our family has continued this legacy, growing peppers and crafting sauces that celebrate both heritage and flavour. Every bottle of Q’Macizo is a tribute to that history, where ancient tradition meets modern craftsmanship.

The Origin of Our Name

Q’Macizo comes from the Spanish phrase “¡Qué Macizo!” (pronounced keh mah-SEE-so), a popular Honduran expression used to describe something extraordinary, unique, or truly awesome. We named our brand after this expression because it perfectly captures what we aim to deliver: great flavour, authentic roots, and an unforgettable experience. Because life tastes better the Q’Macizo way."

Meet the Founder

Yarleny Aguilar is the Founder and CEO of Q’Macizo, shaping the brand with cultural heritage, culinary passion, and strong leadership.

She earned a Major in Psychology and a Minor in Political Science from Western University and studied Entrepreneurship and Early Childhood Education at Fanshawe College. She expanded her global and community-focused knowledge through a certificate from Harvard University in Humanitarian Response to Conflict and Disaster. She further developed her expertise through courses in business management, hospitality, public relations, sociology, and social work, building a strong, multidimensional foundation as a leader.

Yarleny’s career experience is equally diverse. She worked as a professional interpreter, supporting immigration, medical, and legal professionals—roles that strengthened her communication skills and cultural awareness. She also ran a wedding and event decoration business, where she refined her eye for detail, presentation, and guest experience.

Her earliest inspiration comes from her grandmother, a restaurant owner whose kitchen introduced Yarleny to bold flavours and handcrafted recipes—now central to the spirit of Q’Macizo.

Today, Yarleny channels her heritage, education, and creativity into every bottle, leading Q’Macizo as a brand defined by authentic flavour, small-batch craftsmanship, and cultural pride.
